The Collective Bargaining Agreement, Part A, Section 11.7, reads:
“Pay in lieu of Vacations: An employee may choose to work during their vacation with the consent of the Union and VTA, and will be paid at the employee’s straight time rate.”
Effective January 26, 2010, if you want to work your Vacation, you may work no more then two (2) weeks per year without Executive Board approval; you must still get VTA to approve you working your Vacation. If any Member wants to work any additional weeks, they must either appear before the Executive Board (Meetings listed below) or submit a request in writing to the Union, with a detailed explanation and verification of financial hardship. For example: Lost wages due to a long-term absence, etc. The Executive Board will make its decision based on the documents submitted. Be sure that your week of scheduled Vacation is after the Executive Board Meetings.
Executive Board Meetings are scheduled on the Tuesday following the third Wednesday of every month and meets at the Union Office, located at 1590 La Pradera Drive, Campbell, CA. Listed below are the scheduled dates and time of the Local’s Executive Board Meetings for 2010:

The dates and times of the Executive Board Meetings are subject to change; therefore, please call the Union Office at (408) 874-0900 to confirm. In order to work your Vacation, both ATU and VTA must consent. If there is no work available, VTA may deny your request to work your Vacation.
